How to Hide or Un-hide Item, Folder, and Content in Your Course
By default when you create an Item or Folder, it will automatically be visible to students. New Content Areas (located on the left navigation of your course) however will be hidden by default. This guide will explain the difference between each category on Blackboard and will help you hide or un-hide materials within your course.
Content Area
The left navigation of course contains links that are filled with your content. Examples could be called "Course Content, Course Info, Assessments, Assignments, Readings, etc." Each one of these sections can be hidden from the student.
Click the Chevron next to the name of the content area you want to hide.
Select Hide Link. (Or Show Link if you want the students to access the material).
If you hide the link you will notice a white box appears with a slash running across it. This means the content area is Hidden.
If you see a gray box with an outline surrounding it, this means the area has no content inside of it, which also means it is hidden.
Folder & Item
Both Folder and Item are pieces of content you can add to your course. Both of them can be hidden or un-hidden in the same way.
Click the Chevron next to the folder name or the item name
Select Make Available or select Make Unavailable
Note: You can tell the folder/item is unavailable if it appears to be grayed out. It will also say Item is hidden from students. Ensure that you have your Edit Mode set as ON (located at the top of the page) if you do not see the Chevron to edit folder/item.
