How to Enable Delegated Grading for Assignments
This guide will show you how to assign specific faculty, co-faculty, TA's, etc, to grade specific students in the class. For example: Faculty A can be restricted to grade students A - L and Faculty B can be restricted to grade students M - Z.
Step 1: Create groups for your students
On the bottom left inside of the CLR program, go to “Users and Groups”
Select Groups
NOTE: Looks like you have a group already containing 84 students.
Select Create
Then click “Manual Enroll”
Enter a Name for the group, then scroll to the bottom
Click Add Users
Check all that apply
Click Submit and then click Submit one more time to finalize the group
Repeat the steps above for the other set of students to make additional groups
Step 2: Enable “delegated” grading inside your assignment
Go to your “Masters Theses First Draft” for example
Hover over it and select the arrowed chevron
Click Edit
Scroll down and click Grading Options underneath the GRADING area
Check the “Enable Delegated Grading” option
A menu should appear. Here you can choose which faculty you want to be the “Grader” for each student group
Next to the name of the faculty, select the dropdown menu and select “Groups”
Then to the right of that, select the name of the student group
In the below example I have Mariana, who will be grading “Group 2” students and Christine Acevedo who will be grading “MSCR students”
Click Submit when you are done
Step 3: Grading the students
First you must wait for at least one student to submit their assignment
Once that happens, the person who is assigned to grade that student will see their “Attempt” (yellow exclamation mark) appear in the grade center
NOTE: It looks like every other faculty member (who is not assigned to the student) will NOT see the students Attempt appear. Only the faculty assigned to grade that student will see that the student submitted something.
Once the “grader” assigned to the student gives that student a grade. The grade will go into “reconcile” mode. Now all faculty will see the student will have a blue icon in their grade box.
The grade is not finalized. Now that the grade needs to be reconciled, the leader of the course, such as yourself, can go in and reconcile the grade, which will finalize the grade and finish the process.
To reconcile the grade, go to the Grade Center and find the column where your assignment is listed
Hover over the assignment name and click the arrowed chevron
Select “Reconcile Grades”
On this page you will see ALL the students who submitted their assignment. You will see which faculty members already graded the student and which faculty did NOT grade the student
You can click on the blue icon underneath the “Final Grade” column to type in the FINAL grade. Type it in and click ENTER on your keyboard to finish the grading process
